TENSION AND TRAUMA RELEASING EXERCISES (TRE®)
Trauma Releasing Exercises® are a tool to help release stress and tension accumulated in the body as a result of anything from daily life stress to traumatic experiences, such as accidents, loss, divorce, social or domestic violence. Stress and trauma are on the same continuum. As the state of stress reaches a point of overload, it becomes redefined as trauma. Stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and stress is an inevitable part of our lives – impossible to avoid. TRE® has been reported to reduce both stress and physical pain and can be of benefit to all people. Developed by Dr David Berceli, TRE® is a self-help technique that deliberately activates our bodies’ instinctive tremor mechanism in a safe and controlled way. Session by session, these tremors help to release the build-up of muscular tension patterns that have built up in the body during stressful and traumatic life experiences.
TRE® works on various levels:
Anatomically: by helping to relax muscles and facia improving posture and mobility.
Biochemically: by helping to restore homeostasis, thereby balancing the body’s chemistry.
Neurologically (peripheral): through helping restore the autonomic nervous system – leaving us feeling calmer, more peaceful, balanced and connected.
Neurologically (brain): helping to restore the capacity of the brain to operate from higher cortical functions – improving concentration and focus.
TRE® is a powerful method to use when you’re feeling out of balance, ungrounded, stressed, panicky, overwhelmed or traumatized. TRE® is being taught and used successfully in more than 60 countries for recovery from chronic stress symptoms related to trauma. It is a physical way of releasing tension and does not require you to talk about your experiences. Your body ‘knows’ what to do and how to do it – this mechanism being a natural way of stress release. However, every stress and trauma therapy that involves talking and sharing will benefit from the physical release. You are simply much calmer, sleep better and have a better emotional capacity. How to start:
Never done TRE® before?
Start with a 4 session individual program or a group session program (4 or 6 sessions). A minimum of 4 sessions supports you to start experiencing the benefits of the process and learn the process so you are able to facilitate it for yourself, learn to regulate and integrate.
Have done TRE® before?
Book according to your preference, either individual or group sessions.
